Gaikai is probably the key streaming games rival to OnLive. Like it, your inputs on a keyboard or controller don't go to a console or PC processor in your home, but over the Internet to Gaikai's servers. The idea being you don't need to buy a new console as new graphical advances turn up - bringing gaming to everyone. But while OnLive have created their own consumer service, Gaikai have focussed on letting publishers, retail outlets and online websites stream games through their existing web pages. Now, speaking at industry even Cloud Gaming Europe, Gaikai ceo Dave Perry confirmed: "our next big launch is on Facebook and we've been working with them for some time".Perry went on to demonstrate massively multi-player online title World Of Warcraft running through Facebook. "Facebook already owns the category of casual gaming, we're going to help them own core games," said Perry. "A click and boom, you're playing World of Warcraft."
With OnLive also having recently announced a deal to bring their service to every Google TV device, then it's clear cloud gaming is here in a big way in 2012. Move over consoles, your time could be up...
